Lois Marie Barr

Lois M. Barr, of Chandler, Arizona, passed away Sept. 27, 2010 at the age of 87. Born to Hugo and Gertrude (Helble) Sierk on Sept.18, 1923 at home in Princeton, Iowa. After marrying her husband Dale W. Barr they farmed at Low Moor, Iowa, until retiring and moving to DeWitt, Iowa. Eight years ago they moved to Sun Lakes, AZ. to be closer to their daughter and family. Her greatest joy’s in life were their farm, her friends and family that she kept in contact with almost weekly and her grandson and family who lived near by in Avondale, AZ. At her side while she was passing were her husband of 65 years, sister-in-law, Ardith Barr, nieces Denise and Danette (a nurse), while her daughter Barbara was dealing with the death and funeral of her husband of 24 years. Lois was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother and dearly loved son-in-law Carman G. Smith. Survivors are her husband Dale of Chandler, AZ., daughter Barbara Smith of Sun Lakes, AZ. and grandson Andy Kent (Michelle) of Avondale, AZ. and great-granddaughters Brittany, Bridgette, Brenna and Brooke. In lieu of flowers the family requests any memorials in Lois's memory go to Sun Lakes United Methodist Church, 9248 E. Riggs Rd. Sun Lakes, AZ. 85248. Services were held on Friday, October 1, 2010 at 5:00 pm at Valley of the Sun Mortuary Chapel, Chandler, AZ
