Brennan Hope McKaye

Brennan McKaye, 82, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully on June 6, 2018 at Carolina's Medical Center after a sudden illness. She was born Lynda Joy Anderson on July 11, 1935 in Charlotte; the daughter of Ralph Clarence Anderson and Lena Grace Anderson and the sister of Norma Anderson Barnett. Brennan grew up in Charlotte and attended Central High School and St. Mary's College in Raleigh, before marrying in 1953.
After divorcing in 1963, she managed the Barn Dinner Theater in Matthews and the WYFM radio station in uptown Charlotte. Filled with an entrepreneurial drive, Brennan taught herself to tap dance, founded the Academy of Dance, opened three dance studios and produced numerous recitals with her students. She became a successful real estate agent for Touchberry Realty in Charlotte, before moving with her two daughters to Chapel Hill in 1975 to attend the University of North Carolina. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Order of the Valkyries from UNC, was a Johnson Scholar and did graduate work in the areas of Psychology and Adult Education. After working in Human Resources with IBM following graduate school, her adventurous spirit led her to Los Angeles where she pursued acting, optioned a screenplay and joined the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) which led to her name change. While in LA she continued her education and received a PhD. in Psychology prior to beginning her own psychology practice of many years which would transition back to Charlotte in 2003 and last until the week before her death.
She is survived by her children, Scott Stone and his wife Briana Heniford, Shannon Stone, and Ashley Clark; her three grandchildren, Casey Clark Harrold and her husband Peter Harrold, Riley Clark and Mackenzie Clark; and her three great-grandchildren.
The family would like to especially thank Bobbe Conlin, Angela Simonds and Dr. Nancy Sokany for their tireless care, support and love for Brennan over the past several years.
A memorial service to celebrate Brennan's life will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 11th, in Harry & Bryant's Chapel at 500 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28207. The family will receive friends following the service at the home of Scott Stone and Briana Heniford, 7410 Lee Rea Rd., Charlotte, NC 28226.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Pat's Place Child Advocacy Center, 901 E. Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28103.

I’m going to miss my long distance conversations with you Brennen. You took over the mom roll after Norma passed. I will forever hold onto the fond memories of my Charlotte visits.
And to my cousins, Scott, Shannon and Ashley. You and your families will be in my thoughts throughout this difficult time.
