Edward George Geissler

As a child, Ed grew up loving sports, but always favored football the most. He thrived and excelled on the football team where he played defensive tackle at Garinger High School. Needless to say, he was a force to be reckoned with on the field and against his opponents. Ed also made quite a name for himself on the school wrestling team.

Ed graduated from Garinger High School in 1964 and then attended Catawba Community College. Afterwards, he found his niche in sales. He could sell ketchup to a man in a white suit!

Ed enjoyed the simple things in life, whether it was throwing back some cold ones with the boys while watching whatever game was on or listening to music. But his favorite pastime was spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.

Ed never met a stranger and his door was always open. He loved helping people and had such a giving heart. His smile was contagious and kind. He will be missed beyond measure.

Ed is survived by his daughters; Lisa Kersey (Charlotte), Teri Fields (Charlotte) and Kelly Geissler (Charlotte) grandchildren; Cody Kersey and Carrie Kersey; and Kayleigh Taylor, a grandchild by fate, not by blood also from Charlotte. He is also survived by his sisters; Jacki Wilson and husband, Ray from Black Mountain, NC, Toni McCall and husband, George from Lake Wylie, SC and his brothers; John Harper of Lake Wylie, SC and David Harper of O'Fallon, MS.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care located at 1420 East 7th Street, Charlotte NC 28204.
