November 5, 1936 – July 25, 2018
Florence Louise (Stewart) Pettus, aka "Pettus", 81, of Charlotte, NC, the wife of Jack Pettus of 59 years, mother of Gary, Kim and Michele, grandmother of Madeline and Jack, sister of “Sonny” and Jimmy Stewart, Virginia McLamb, and Catherine Owens, departed this life July 25, 2018 at Autumn Care of Cornelius.
Louise was born in November 1936, in Charlotte, NC to Albert and Dorothy (Shoemaker) Stewart. She attended Tech High School and later went on to work for the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System as a teacher’s aide where she was able to fulfill her passion of working with children alongside her dear friend and colleague, Ann Baker.
The family would like to extend a special thanks and appreciation to all her caregivers at Autumn Care of Cornelius for her 2+ year extended stay and Novant Hospice for her last two months of care.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests continuing her love for children by making contributions in Louise's memory to The Better Life Foundation, TBLF, P.O. Box 896, Pine Brook, NJ 07058, whose mission is to make a positive change in the lives of children in need of food, shelter and medical assistance, and to enhance the lives of children and young adults in need. A private graveside service will be held for the family at Forest Lawn West.
