June Alexander

June Childs Alexander died at Presbyterian Hospital on Saturday, August 25, 2012, surrounded by family members. She was born in Charlotte on February 3, 1921, to the late Theron Arthur and Gertrude Row Childs. She graduated from Central High School and attended Queens College. Mrs. Alexander was predeceased by her husband, Jay W. Alexander, Jr., and her brother, Stuart R. Childs. She was devoted to raising her four children and to the Episcopal Church. Known and loved for her kindness and generosity, she made friends with everyone she met.

Mrs. Alexander is survived by her children, Rosann Farber-Petes (husband Tom Petes) of Chapel Hill, June Marie Rainwater (husband Ron) of Mt. Holly, Bonnie Washam (loving friend Steve McKenzie) of Cornelius, and Jay W. Alexander, III (loving friend Susan Haney) of Charlotte; her granddaughters, Laura Petes, of Washington, DC, and Diana Petes, of San Francisco, CA; her sister, Grace Marie Kirkpatrick, of Seven Lakes, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 29, 2012. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Church, 1412 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28207, or Loaves and Fishes, PO Box 11234, Charlotte, NC 28220.

Rosann,Bonnie,Jay and June Marie, I am so sorry to hear of your mom death. Both of your parents were great friends of our family. We enjoyed the times at the lake and other social gatherings. I hate I missed the fureral services and visitation. I just learned of her passing today(Thursday) and feel so bad I was not there. I know your hard ship and me prayer are with you all. I hope to see you soon. Keep the good memeries close at heart and she will be with you always. Sincerely with a sad heart, Glenn Machen and family.
