Waco Stewart Digh, 86, passed away peacefully at home on August 21, 2018. He was born to the late E.B. Digh and Dora S. Digh on March 30, 1932. He had lived with progressive Parkinson’s disease for many years. He was an honorable man, dutiful son, beloved husband and father.
Waco is preceded in death by a younger brother Charles W. Digh. He is survived by his wife Louise Stegall Digh; son J. Michael Digh (Rosa); daughter Lynne D. Waller. Sister Ruby Parker ; brother Frank Digh; three grandchildren Shane Waller, Shevawn Lawrenz (Steve), Brandy Robinson (Jim); five great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Waco graduated from Charlotte’s Central High School in 1950. He began work with his father repairing wooden station wagons then moved onto repairing and refinishing wooden boats. His experience prepared him for later repairing and fabricating fiberglass boats and products. He always had a project he was working on and will be remembered as a Master Craftsman who could do most anything he set his mind to. Waco enjoyed all racing and even had his own open wheel cars in the late 1950’s. He also enjoyed his horses and dogs. Waco proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Waco was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for over 40 years and is a member of Sunset Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC.
A Graveside Service will be private per the family’s request.
