

Mary Lee Vickery was born in Missouri in 1933 and is survived by Robert, her husband of over fifty years, daughter Clare and son Kevin (and his daughter Lucy), as well as her sister Marjorie and brotherJim. After attending Clayton High School, she graduated from Washington University receiving a Bachelor Degree of Fine Art in St. Louis. She dedicated her life to her children and family in Charlottesville, Virginia since the 1970’s when Mary moved to North First Street as Robert accepted a teaching position at the University of Virginia Architecture School, and later founded VMDO Architects. Mary and Robert enjoyed traveling across the globe sharing their adventures and love of culture with students, family and friends. Mary enjoyed teaching art to young children and later was a volunteer for reading programs. She was an avid reader, gardener, craftsperson and skilled watercolorist. She had exhibitions of her artworks in South Florida and Charlottesville. She also was a fan of classic and contemporary film and all things trivia.
