Robert (Bob) Linwood Long passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 7th. Bob was born in Attleboro, MA on November 12, 1930 and moved to Chatham in November 1930 where he attended Chatham Schools. Bob is survived by his wife of 69 years, Marge, and his three sons, Robert W. Long (Darlene) of Chatham, Ronald C. Long (Leslie) of Falmouth and Tampa, FL, and Alan R. Long (Pat) of Orleans, as well as ten Grandchildren, and seventeen Great-Grandchildren.
Bob enjoyed working outside and loved the Red Sox, Patriots, Westerns, and traveling with his wife and friends. Bob was a proud veteran of the Army National Guard and a longtime active member of the Chatham VFW Color Guard.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held this coming Friday, December 14th at the Chatham VFW, 150 George Ryder Rd., Chatham, MA from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm. All family and friends are welcome to come and share remembrances of Bob.
