Bernard Freedman

Bernard Freedman, 88, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2019, at a local hospital.

He was the son of the late William and Esther Freedman and was preceded in death by his sister Ethel Reed and brother, Charles Freedman.

Bernard was a retired US Air Force Major and served his country as an aviation navigator. Upon his retirement in the military he served 20 years as director for Caldsted Retirement Home.

He was a member of Tyner United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Freedman, three children, Christy (Pat) Graham, of Whitwell, TN, Lori Parker, of Chattanooga, TN, Tami Freedman, of Rossville, GA, two grandchildren, Melissa (Andrew) Penland, Kara (Jitendra Singh) Chauhan, eight great-grandchildren, Haley, Savannah, Kayla, Skylar, Kristopher, Shannyn, Kenadie, Seyenna, and five siblings, Maryjane Clark, William Freedman, Bobby Freedman, Emily Issacson and Harry Freedman.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2019, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military rites being conducted.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 โ€“ 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at the funeral home.

Bernard freedman was a good man. Did not know him real good but his daughter Lori Parker is one of my best friends. My prayers are with them i love them all very much. I am so sorry for your loss. I can say Bernie was a special man, he was very smart in so many things. He certainly loved his family. He was kind helpful and generous He will be missed by all who knew him. You will be in my prayers and thought. May God Bless you and hold you in this time of such a great loss.
