She was born the 2nd youngest of 6 children on March 2, 1934, in Fort Collins, Colorado, to Walter and Edna (Gregory) Swaim. In 1946, she moved with her family to Mossyrock, Wash. She met the love of her life, Bert Ketzenberg, in Mossyrock when she was just 16 years old. Bert and Bev got married 3 years later on October 10, 1953. The couple was set to celebrate their 66th anniversary later this year. They moved to a small farm in Chehalis, where they raised cows, pigs, and chickens. Bev worked on the farm side by side with Bert throughout her working career. They started their business, Bert’s Locker Cutting, in 1956, and operated the business for 40 years.
