Burton Neil "Bud" Durr
March 4, 1932 – February 18, 2018
Burton Neil “Bud” Durr, 85, passed away, February 18, 2018 in Centralia, Wash. Bud was born on March 4, 1932 in Seattle, Wash., to Mildred (Hunt) and Neil Durr. He attended high school in Ballard, Wash., and joined the Army after graduating. After Bud got out of the service he worked for the American Can Company in Seattle (3½ years in California). Bud met Jean (Huston) and the couple was married on August 31, 1956, in Seattle Wash. Together they had 3 children. Then in 1969 they moved to Chehalis and bought Vermont Stationery and renamed it The Scribe Stationery. It closed in 1975. After that he had several jobs doing mostly bookkeeping. Bud enjoyed several activities including fishing, playing bridge, and writing. He even self-published 3 books. Bud is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Durr; nephew, Don Sayler; and aunt, Winnie Wenzel. He is Survived by his wife Jean; children, Steve Durr, Kathy Bishop, and Jerry Durr; sister, Lynn Sayler; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Thank you to Prestige Post-Acute Care and Rehab for their wonderful care for the past 18 months. A memorial service is scheduled to begin at 1pm, Saturday, March 10, 2018, at the Chehalis United Methodist Church (16 S. Market Blvd.), with a reception to follow in the church social hall.
