Gabriel "Gabe" Carmen Rapali

April 17, 1934February 28, 2018

Gabriel (Gabe) Carmen Rapali, 83, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at Providence Hospital, Centralia, Washington. Gabe was born in Corropoli, Italy, April 17, 1934. His father had moved to America before WWII and became a US Citizen. It wasn’t until after the war and “things settled down” a bit before his mother, sister and himself moved to America in 1951. He enlisted in the US Army, February, 1954. He served in France and Germany. He received an Honorable Discharge in November, 1957. A friend of his, in Pennsylvania, had moved to Randle and started a sawmill business. In 1959, Gabe moved to the Randle area and began working for his friend. He was hired by the White Pass School District, in 1964, as a janitor at Packwood Elementary as well as a bus driver. This was the perfect job for him, as Gabe loved children and he was able to spend every day working with them. For three generations he made friends and long lasting memories. The children he drove to school in the beginning of his career, then matured and he later drove their children and grandchildren before he retired. Gabe was a very giving and loving man. His love of family was second to none and will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents, Genaro and Italina (Speca) Rapali and his adopted son Rudy. Gabe is survived by his wife, Joan Brinkley, Sister, Maria Goodwin, children, Bella Audineau (Frank), Gina Deletang (Yann), and Gerald Rapali (Deanne), stepchildren; Kevin Irwin (Jodi), Tawnie Bunke (Douglas), Lawrence Adams (Jeri) and Dawn Blight (Joe) eighteen grandchildren, Christophe Renaud, Sylvain Audineau, Delphine Rapali, Aron Loveland, Demi Deletang, Liam Rapali, Zymarie Rapali, Giovanni Rapali, James Jones, Marlana Irwin, Katie Irwin, Douglas Bunke, Christine Schmidt, Brandon Adams, Brittany Adams, Jeremy Lenz, Jayme Howell, Kenny Blight, sixteen great-grandchildren, Ryder Jones, Julian Jones, Nycole, Kaylee, Kevin, Kirsten Dunaway, Jase Fazzio, Addison Schmidt, Kirsten Swears, Trinity Swears, Bearett Adams, Brennan Adams, Gabriel Howell, Abigale Howell, Baylee, and Brynlee Blight, Nieces; Lisa Johnson and Becky Horn. Gabe will be forever remembered by his wife, of 44 years, and best friend, Joan Rapali. A Memorial service will be held, 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 7th 2018 at the White Pass High School gymnasium. Arrangements are under the care of Brown Mortuary Service. Memorials may be made in his honor to: Seattle Children’s Hospital, Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
