Jerry Ray Newman
October 12, 1939 – April 17, 2018
Jerry Ray Newman, formerly of Rochester, passed away, April 17, 2018, in Vancouver WA., at the age of 78. Jerry was born, October 12, 1939, in Raymond, to parents, Floyd and Bernice Newman. After graduating from Raymond High School, he enlisted in the Navy. He spent three years on active duty, and two of those aboard the USS Corry, DDR 817, as a fireman. He spent three additional years in the Navy Reserves before being honorably discharged. He went on to work as a mine truck driver for Washington Irrigation and Development Company (WIDCo), where he retired after a 25 year career. He was an active member of the American Legion Post, in Raymond. He loved fishing, hunting and spending time with family. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Tanya (who was a twin). Jerry is survived by daughter, Teresa; stepdaughters, Gina and Debbie; stepson, Bob; grandsons, Dylon and Bobby; granddaughters, Taylor, Brandie, Torrie and five great-grandchildren. Jerry was a kind and loving man. He was a wonderful father to his twin daughters, Tanya and Teresa, and he showed unconditional love to all of his family.
