Wilbur Dean Armagost

Wilbur Dean Armagost passed away at his home in Chehalis, Wash., May 14, 2019. He was born in Casper, Wyo., June 9, 1959, to Clark and Evadel (Lewis) Armagost. In his youth, he was well known for his love of foosball and he enlisted in the United States Air Force directly after graduating in 1978, from Cook High School in Cook, Minn. After serving in the Air Force in Seoul, South Korea, Wilbur took employment with the Washington State Highway Patrol as a dispatcher for many years. He was self-taught in computer skills and eventually migrated to the I.T. department with the agency. He traveled the entire state in that capacity for several years, until he retired after the death of his beloved wife, Nina. Wilbur was the main caregiver for his son, Benjiman, who was born with special needs. He made the necessary sacrifices to keep Benjiman at home until his death in 2004. Wilbur was passionate about his tropical birds and playing guitar. He loved to welcome guests in his home by cooking and playing music for them. He will be missed by many. Wilbur is survived by his son, Joshua; daughter, Haley; brothers, Hershel and Kelly; sister, Sheree; stepmother, Audrey; stepparents, Willard and Carol; and many nieces, nephews and stepchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Clark; mother, Evadel; wife, Nina; and son, Benjiman. A private memorial service will be held in his honor June 1, 2019, in Chehalis, Wash. Donations may be made in Wilbur’s name to any space exploration foundation.
