Grandar was such a special lady. She always spoke the truth, provided her opinion, and lit up when she spoke. I loved speaking with her at your family parties. Her spunk lives on in you Michelle. Sending my love to you all. I’m thankful to have known her.

Michelle’s mom...Darlene! Never at a loss for words or her opinion!😊 I remember her coming along as Wyatt or Emma were dropped off for a play date and she always got out of the car to say hi! Always happy to see her grandkids and spend time with Michelle 💕 one opinion I giggle about is her “thoughts” on my son growing a side braid to be a Jedi knight for Star Wars!!🤣 at least I know how she felt right?!👍🏻 I am sure she’s at peace with her husband and son who have gone before her! Blessings family of Darlene! 🙏🏻

Wow, I've known Mrs. Maart for 42 years. Here's what I remember: her somewhat loud cackle, her passion for cleanliness, her love for her children (Keith, Curt, Maureen and Michelle) and her animals (Pepper, Tuffy, Keisha, Schweitzen), her ability to look the other way when Michelle and I were misbehaving, the ease at which she laughed at whatever one said, no matter how irrelevant, her support when I was going through a rough patch with my parents, her pride in her children's accomplishments. I'll never forget the time she called me after I moved to Virginia almost 28 years ago. She kept running into my brother at the vet, and she always asked him how I was doing. My brother finally said, "why don't you call her yourself (meaning me)?" so she did. Since I hadn't talked to her since I moved, I thought something had happened to Michelle. NOPE! She just wanted to know how I was doing. You raised amazing children, Mrs. Maart, despite the hand you were dealt. I am so blessed to know and love them all! What a wonderful legacy to leave!

I will always remember your mom as so full of energy and so strongly independent. She lost the love of her life at a young age and became a single mom to 4, which alone takes immense strength of character. She endured to the end.
I went through a difficult time during college and Darlene shared something personal with me that brought me much comfort. I will never forget that and will always be grateful to her for it.

Grandar always impressed me with her energy and fitness. She and her friend Betty were working out at Lifetime fitness well into their70s! She had a cool taste in cars with her Camaro! Once we had a disagreement and when I did act kindly to her, she forgave me and I will never forget that. She is missed. My sympathies to her family.

We spent a lot of time at the Maart house growing up and I remember Mrs. Maart fondly. She worked so hard to take care of her children. May it comfort her children and grandchildren to know that she is in God's loving arms.
