She was born on January 31, 1915 in Bangued (Abra), Philippines, to Juana Bayquen of Bangued and Hugolino Purisima of San Ildefonso, Ilocos Sur. She had one younger sister, Francisca Cardenas (née Purisima). She married Pascual A. Perez, Sr. on December 1st, 1941 in Mandaluyong Rizal, Philippines and worked as a midwife at Welfareville Hospital. In 1977, she moved to Chicago, Illinois and later became a frequent resident in Orlando, Florida. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Cyprian of Chicago and St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Orlando.
Mamang taught us the importance of family, love, hard work, humility, and humor. We were blessed to learn strong values and lessons by the superior example she led. She had an entrepeneurial spirit and also enjoyed sewing, embroidery, traveling the world, making funny faces at her grandchildren/great-grandchildren, and spending time with all her loved ones. Most importantly, she instilled a life centered on faith in her family by her example of a prayerful life. She was the much-adored matriarch to her loving family.
Felicula was the widow of Pascual A. Perez, Sr. She is deeply loved and remembered by her half-brother, Arnulfo Purisima, 81, her 6 children – sons, Pascual P. Perez, Jr. (Teresa Cristina Suarez) and Eduardo Perez (Emelita Mazo) of Sydney, Australia, and Constantino Perez (Julieta Victoria Ignacio) of Orlando, FL; daughters, Fe Priscilla Perez (Vicente Reyes) of Orlando, FL, Luz Linda Perez of Chicago, IL, and Araceli Asuncion Perez (Florencio Dominguez) of Chino Hills, CA; 13 grandchildren, Maria Christina Perez (Dominic Morgan), Mary Jane Perez, Jose Pascual Perez (Leilani Montano), Peter Denis Perez (Melanie Villareal), Perry Vinson Reyes (Chiyo Honde), Fevin Raymund Reyes (Leomelyn Aspi), Ann Christine Perez (Frederick Chan Sr.), Paul Edward Perez (Bernadette Barrozo), Jhoan Pauline Perez (Michael Atencio), Cathleen Fay Dominguez (Mark Jacinto), Carl Patrick Dominguez (Elizabeth Arnoldi), Jules Constantine Perez (Angela Mitra), and Christine Victoria Perez (Ronald Bautista); and 30 great-grandchildren.
It was her strong belief that "the family that prays together, stays together." Felicula will continue to be an inspiration to all whose lives have been touched by her and her legacy will forever be remembered in our hearts.
