Grandma I love you more than words can say. One of your favorite movies was the Wizard of Oz. Ironically Turner Classic was playing it tonight. I cried through most of the movie. During my childhood, they used to air it on channel two once a year . I remember being so excited to watch it with you and Brad. Who knew I’d reference the movie as a means to offer comfort to you during these last two weeks. In many ways the days leading up to your departure were very much like Dorothy’s, “you wanted to go home” and I’d tell you gram wouldn’t this be easier if you just had a pair of those ruby red slippers like Dorothy Gale and you said yes, I wish I did. In the end our goodbye was similar to the ending of the Wizard of Oz with all of us saying one last goodbye. I guess the scarecrow, tin man & cowardly lion would be a representation of your caregiver team Terry, Tom and Bruno while I was playing the part of Glinda. I hope one day we meet again and we will look back on all this in that way.
