Virginia "Ginny" Pipenhagen, 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep in Wheat Ridge, CO on Monday, January 28, 2019. She suffered from advanced dementia and had fallen and broken her hip 3 weeks before her death.

Ginny was born in Chicago, IL on April 3, 1931 to George Martin Wheeler and Emilie Buehler Wheeler. Ginny adored her beloved older sister Dorothy "Dottie" and brother-in-law Milton Young and her younger brother George Herbert Wheeler. Both Dottie and George are deceased.

In her twenties, Ginny worked in the Accounting Department at Baird and Warner, real estate company. Later, she met and married her husband Charles Pipenhagen Jr. in 1958. Together they raised two daughters, Janice and Susan.

Once her daughters were a bit older, she rejoined the workforce as a Realtor and later a Vice President of Sales for a temporary staffing service.

Chuck and Ginny were members at Medinah Country Club where they enjoyed playing golf and attending social events. Mom had many fun times playing golf with her girlfriends. She served as the 9 Hole Ladies Golf Chairman for a period of time. Ginny believed in being inclusive with others and enjoyed welcoming new women golfers to their group.

Ginny loved children. She was a Sunday School Teacher for many years at the United Methodist Church in Roselle, IL. She was also on the PTA and was the "Art Lady" bringing in canvas art to her daughter's elementary school.

There's nothing she enjoyed more than entertaining family and friends. She loved everyone she met and often greeted friends and family with a hug and a kiss. Those who knew her well, knew that she loved to wear lipstick. She often left a lingering sign of her kiss on friends and family. The entire staff at MorningStar in Wheat Ridge loved this about her.

When Chuck was first diagnosed with Alzheimer's, Ginny spent time researching the disease and figuring out ways she could help. When Chuck moved into a Memory Care Community, she took it upon herself to create song books and led the residents in song and music every week.

Ginny is survived by her daughter Susan (Jeff) in Lakewood, CO. She will be greatly missed by her four grandchildren: Christina, Olivia, Kayla and Garrett. She was preceded in death by her husband Chuck in 2002 and her daughter Janice (Frank) in 2010.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested making a donation to the Alzheimer's Association.
