Mr. Alvin Minks

Alvin Dean Minks, 85, of Redding CA passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Oak River Rehabilitation Hospital in Anderson, CA. He was born in Terrebonne, Oregon on March 11, 1932.He served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. He was an electronic engineer for over 28 years, working for Lawrence Livermore Lab and retiring from Ampex Corporation in 1985. Following retirement, Alvin moved to Shasta County. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed snow skiing and the outdoors. Alvin is survived by his wife, Carol Minks, of Redding CA. Daughter Sandra Sharkey (Patrick) of Fremont CA. Grandchildren Colleen Sharkey, Kevin Sharkey, Colin Minks, Andrew Minks and Caitlin Churchill of Redding. CA. Alvin was preceded in death by his son, Stuart Alan Minks, of Redding CA. Services will be held at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery 11800 Gas Point Road, Igo CA 96047 on October 30, 2017 at 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veterans or a charity of choice. Arrangement entrusted to the Neptune Society of No CA, Chico Branch.
