Sharon Aleene Lavery passed away on 7/8/2018 at her home in Oroville following a battle with cancer at the age of 77. She was cared for by her nephew, Sean, and her son, Christian, during her final weeks.
Sharon was born in San Francisco on April 27, 1941 to Arthur and Aleene Lavery. She lived in the Bay Area for the first half of her life, and moved to Oroville in 1975 to make it her home. She enjoyed spring days up on Table Mountain and longs walks by the river. She spent many years working for Tong Fong Low, providing foster care, and caring for others in their homes. Sharon had achieved forty years of sobriety and spent many hours at the Alano Club, in AA and NA assisting others in addiction recovery.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Laurie, her nephew Rick Schumacker, her niece, Sharon Hance and her son-in-law Jim Conger. She is survived by her five children, Victoria Jasinsky (Pinette), Robert Jasinsky, Vincent Jasinsky, Cathy House (Noah), Christian Faafiu-Lavery, and her nephew Sean Rubiolo, twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many others who loved her dearly.
Sharon was well-known for opening her heart and her home to strays – whether they be human or animal. She will be missed greatly by every person who knew her. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
