Edward Lee Lockhart

Edward was born on April 12, 1938 in Anson County North Carolina and was the son of the late Nevil Lee Lockhart and Harriett Epps Lockhart.

He was a 1956 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School where he excelled in baseball and football. Following high school, he played in the 1956 Phillies Baseball Farm team in Johnson City Tennessee. He worked for many years for the NC DOT in civil engineering. In his later years, he enjoyed being a member of GARS, Golf Association of Rowan Seniors.

He served his country proudly in the US Army in the 11th Bravo Infantry and was a longtime member of Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and coached the church softball team.

Those with cherished memories are his wife of 61 years, Donna Shue Lockhart, his sons Rance Lockhart, Tim Lockhart and Jarrett Lockhart as well as his brother David Lockhart (Linda).

Visitation will be on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 5:00 pm till 7:00 at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with funeral services scheduled for Saturday at 11:00 am at Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church in China Grove, with Pastor Tim Kneuss, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
