Mr. Frederick Clinton Sechler, Sr., age 85 of China Grove passed away on Monday, May 13, 2019 at his home. Mr. Sechler was born on September 20, 1933 in Rowan County to the late Noacker Alexander Sechler and Ruth Louise Eudy Sechler. His wife of 51 years, June Blackwelder Sechler and his two sisters, Jane Carol Wright and Dorothy Louise Fabrizio, preceded him in death. He was a graduate of China Grove High School and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He continued to be an avid tarheel fan and absolutely loved the New York Yankees.

Mr. Sechler served his country in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant serving part of his service in Germany. He spent his career after his service as an Engineering Geologist with the North Carolina Department of Transportation. He was a lifetime member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and a former member of the China Grove Civitan Group. Mr. Sechler had a great love for his family; loved animals and nature, especially his cat, Zoe and his granddog, Daisy. He spent his spare time building model airplanes…many of them. He enjoyed playing the guitar and had a tremendous love for blue grass music. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Anne Sechler Hall (Jeffery) of China Grove, Frederick Clinton Sechler, Jr. of Framingham, MA and Amy Sechler Campbell (Vance) of Chesapeake, VA. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Matthew Alexander Hall (Sydney) and Trevor Allen Hall (fiance’ Maren Lewallen).

Graveside services for Mr. Sechler with full Military Honors will be on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 11:00am at West Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in China Grove, NC, officiated by Rev. Phil Thorsen of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Memorials in honor of Mr. Sechler are requested to the Humane Society of Rowan County, 112 W. Innes Street, Salisbury, NC 28144. Online condolences may be left for the family at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Sechler.
