Rosalie Madonia Giunta (Rosie) was born on June 24, 1931 in the Bronx, NY and passed away on September 16, 2020. Francis Saviour Giunta (Frank) was born on March 13, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY and joined his wife on September 18, 2020.
My parents lived a long and very fulfilling life. They built a life together, moving to New Jersey after their first-born child was born (me). They fostered children, and fell in love with one in particular. My brother, Raymond, officially became my brother when he was three years old. A few years later, Dad joined the army, and we (Mom, Raymond and I) moved to New York to live with relatives while Dad was in basic training in South Carolina.
After Dad joined the army, my parents lived in Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Germany, Italy, California, Florida, and finally, California again. They went on vacations together to Jamaica and the Bahamas. They bowled and bowled and bowled. They were in bowling tournaments all the time, taking them to various other states like Nevada and Arizona. They entered the Senior Olympics for bowling in The Villages, Florida. There are so many medals, trophies and pictures from bowling. Bowling.
They leave behind two children, seven grandchildren – and too many great-grandchildren to count. We always enjoyed our time together, listening to the two of them being them. Loud, obnoxious Dad and always-with-a-comeback Mom. Typical Italian family.
Rose and Frank (Mom and Dad) were inseparable. Even if the coronavirus hadn’t taken my mom from him, he would’ve found a way to join her. He was very persistent in getting what he wanted, and he would’ve joined her, no matter what. He simply could not live without her.
We will miss them terribly. But they are together, the way it was meant to be.
