In 1942 Bill was the first of fifty one cousins born into a large Polish family that loved and spoiled him and his sister Karen Ann. Bill grew up in Long Beach California with loving parents Cecilia and Louis. He attended St Barnabas school in Long Beach where he made many life long friends. Bill's love of sports came from playing football and baseball in his youth. Bill attended Long Beach State University and graduated with a Bachelors in Police Science. In 1964 Bill met his lifetime love Cathie on Christmas Day. Immediately after college Bill was drafted into the United States Army where he was stationed in Alaska. When Bill returned from his service he and Cathie married April 1st,1967. Then he was hired as an investigator for the State of California. In 1972 the DMV transferred him to the Sacramento office. He spent many years in this department and retired as a Senior Investigator in 1998 for Social Services.
Bill and Cathie moved to Sacramento where they were accompanied by their daughter Laura, and soon joined by daughter Jennifer. They lived in Fair Oaks for 23 years where they were involved in Presentation Parish. He loved being involved in his daughters' sports activities. Other family activities included camping, fishing, and hiking. The last 20 years have been spent in Carmichael with his loving wife Cathie.
In 1989 their first grandchild Kirsten was born. Within the years to follow Bill was blessed with five more grandchildren, Kimberly, Samantha, Tyler, Gavin, and Trinity. During this time we began our loving relationship with Stuart (Kirsten's father) and Jill (Kirsten's second Mom). Out of these grandchildren Kirsten was the first to expand the family marrying Zach(grandson in law). Kimberly is currently engaged to Chris expanding the family circle again. Bill found joy spending time making memories with his grandchildren, teaching them how to play cribbage, watching them play various sports, and spending quality time together.
Special recognition goes to his loving caregivers: Colleen, Janice, and Shweta, who became another part of our family.
We want to give special thanks to his wonderful friends that helped Bill get to his favorite places: River City Cribbage Club, horse races, and the casino. To all Bill's friends that would enrich his day by coming to the house for a quick game of cribbage, poker game, fantasy football, or just chew the fat Thank You!
Bill began his battle with MS in 1988, which effected his body. It never effected his beautiful soul, brilliant mind, and the smile we all know and love. In 2014 he joined the MS Achievement Center, a place where he met many new friends including a supportive and loving staff. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Mercy Foundation Att: MS Achievement Center, 3400 Date Drive, Rancho Cordova, 95670 or visit www.supportmercyfoundation.org
May he now Rest In Peace with his daughter Laura and our heavenly Father. Heaven gained another angel.
