Born August 22, 1941, our beloved Caroline Van Dusen has left this world on July 31, 2019, surrounded by loved ones and is bound for eternal glory in the arms of Christ. She was the devoted mother of Ken (Cindy) Mendenhall, Tracy (Kevin) Roche, Robin (Theo) Liginos, Kendra (Paul) Burke and Brian (Vanessa) Mendenhall. In addition to her children, 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren brought abundant joy and happiness to her heart.
She lived the majority of her life in St Petersburg, Florida, where she was employed as the Cafeteria Manager at Blanton Elementary School until retirement. Caroline was a 'pedal to the metal' kind of gal and, she raced the Grand Prix of her lifetime with independence, dignity, honor and infinite love for humanity. She had a quick wit, a quirky sense of humor and could often be discovered living her best life in laughter. She enjoyed new adventures, music, dancing, traveling, and a good old-fashioned, fun-filled argument.
She was a compassionate woman who unselfishly spent over 10 years of volunteer service with Suncoast Hospice. Her journey included providing companionship to each individual; however, her primary focus was to give solace to the 11th Hour patients who would otherwise pass on with no one to comfort them. Caroline was a long-standing member of the congregation at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church where she found spiritual inspiration in her faith, her friendships and in her walk with God.
Daughter, Robin Liginos and her husband, Theo, were her primary caregivers during her valiant struggle with a long illness. Members of her family join together in thankful gratitude for them both as they showered her with unfailing love, gentle patience and thoughtful attention throughout the years.
