Edward was born to Edward G. and Flora (Peacock) Laberge June 10th, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan.
He earned his undergraduate degree in teaching from Wayne State University. Later, he earned a masters’ degree in Art and History and a second one in English from Eastern Michigan University. He was a true lover of knowledge.
He served his country in the Army while stationed in Germany for two years. Upon his return, he began his career teaching middle school in the Detroit and Southfield school systems. For more than thirty years, he made history and English come alive for his students with his passion for teaching.
Edward spent his retirement years in Clearwater, Florida enjoying painting, traveling, reading and spending time with his family. He was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Clearwater.
He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
Edward is survived by Irene Pettis, his loving partner; and three daughters, Susannah Drew (Mike) and Jennifer Shytle (Steve). He is also survived by three grandchildren, Courtney (Drew) Miruku, Taylor Drew, and Alexei Shytle and three great-grandsons, Tanner and Jayce Drew and Alex Miruku.
Private services were held at Sylvan Abbey on April 9th, 2020.
