Rachel was predeceased by her husband, Gary S. Holsapple. She is survived by her daughter, Tina Ward of Orlando,FL, sister Patricia Eckenstahaler and her husband Chuck of Michigan City, IN, her uncle George Miller and his wife Dalette of Punta Gorda, FL, and uncle, Gordon Miller of Chicago, IL. Also survived by her cherished friends Cody and Shayna Jackson of New Port Richey, Sharon Donnelly, Brenna French and her family of Williston ,FL, Lynn Perry of Palm Harbor, her beloved pet dachshund, “Shiloh” and numerous friends she treasured.
She was born July 23, 1952 to the late John and Shirley (Hafk) Miller in Chicago, IL. Rachel spent most of her life in Oak Lawn, IL and graduated from Oak Lawn High School.
Rachel was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. She enlisted after graduation and was stationed at various duty locations, including Pearl Harbor, HI and Washington DC. She was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, the Navy Recruiting Service Ribbon, Fourth Good Conduct Medal in 1992 and the Joint Meritorious Unit Award. She received an Honorable Discharge in 1995.
Rachel was employed by Stewart Enterprises and worked at the Cemetery Management offices in Safety Harbor and Orlando in the late 90’s. She later transferred to Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home in Clearwater and retired in 2014.
Rachel enjoyed sewing, cooking and ceramics. She was a fan of the Moody Blues, loved Motown music and dreamed of owning a farm to rescue dachshunds.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial service on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, FL.
