

Rev, Richard Brunk Sr. a retired Pastor of The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America died on October 26th 2017 in Palm Harbor, Florida at he age of 95 Pastor Brunk the son of H. Edward Brunk, Jr an Cornelia Steeb Brunk was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1922 . He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering. He was a graduated from the Lutheran Theological Seminary, Columbia SC with a Master of Divinity Degree. During the Second World War he served with the 511th Parachute Infantry, 11th Airborne Division in the Philippines campaign, Okinawa and the Occupation of Japan] Throughout his ministry he served as Chaplin the the Army Reserve. He was ordained May 1950 and went on to serve the following congregations. His first call was Trinity in Elloree, South Carolina. Then moved back to Pittsburgh where he served Mt Calvary in McKees Rocks and Christ Lutheran Church in Millvale. In 1977 he accepted a call to Messiah Lutheran in Monroe, Louisiana where he served until he retired 1986. After he retired he moved to Tarpon Springs, Florida and the to Palm Harbor, Fl. Pastor Brunk is survived by his spouse Ann: daughter Kathryn Kuzara,(Dennis) and son Rev. RichardEarl Brunk,Jr: brother, Rev, Robert K Brunk(Lorie) of Pittsburgh and sister Elizabeth Hutcheson of Buffalo, New York. 4 Grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Lutheran Church of the Palms, 2250 Nebraska Ave, Palm Harbor, Florida, sometime in January. Memorials can be given the Lutheran Church of the Palms for the Music Program .
