

Richard Martin Montgomery, age 81, of Seminole, Florida, passed away Sunday morning, April 15, 2018. Known mostly as “Dick” to his friends and family. He was born September 26, 1936 in Bellefonte, PA and was raised in Rochester, NY. Dick attended West Catholic High School in Philadelphia, Pa. He continued his education at Penn State and Villanova University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Dick was an entrepreneur most of his life and had several rewarding businesses. He will be remembered mostly for his passion for giving. He was past President of the Kiwanis Club and the Lion’s club throughout his life. He also coached Little League baseball, football and started the Lionville Youth Association girls softball program in the mid to late sixty’s. He also was past president of the Lionville Youth Association and the Seminole Youth Association. Dick coached softball for over 35 years and brought several teams to the softball championships. He was an excellent athlete with special passions for basketball and tennis. He was an active gardener and you would see him sitting in the middle of his garden looking so peaceful.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy Montgomery, and two brothers, Denny and Thomas Montgomery. Survivors include Dick’s wife of 60 years, Ida Berardis Montgomery; one son John Martin Montgomery (Nancy) of Exton, Pa, and five daughters, Karen Montgomery McFarlin (James) of Seminole, Fl, Patty Montgomery Sittloh of Seminole, Fl, Kathy Montgomery Bernard (Billy), of Warwick, RI, Bridget Montgomery Kling (Mike) of Seminole, Fl, and Michelle Montgomery Hoffman (Scott) of West Grove, Pa; twenty-one grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A memorial mass for family and friends will be held at St. Jerome Catholic Church Chapel: 10895 Hamlin Blvd., Largo, FL 33774 on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 1pm.
