

90, of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away peacefully on July 11. 2011, comforted by her family. She relocated to St. Petersburg almost 30-years ago after retiring from New York City Department of Education as a school secretary. Ruby was an active member of McCabe United Methodist Church where she once served as church secretary and later became a member of the choir. She was a local real estate sales person and loved entertaining her friends.
Ruby gave of her time and talents generously to her community. She volunteered through Gulf Coast Community Care Children’s Services and became a doting volunteer grandmother; She volunteered at the Sanderlin Center’s to tutor and mentor elementary school children during its after school program; For many years, she sang with the St. Petersburg’s Alumni Singers and won trophies for bowling and amateur ballroom dancing; She was an organizer of the once popular Northerners Social Club. Traveling and gardening were both passions of Ruby.
Ruby will be deeply missed by her family and close friends. Survivors included her two daughters, Lauren Joseph of Rosharon, Texas and Bernice Darling of St. Petersburg, FL; Six grandchildren, Keanna, Chanti, Arianna, Carl, Keturah and Tamisha; and twelve great grandchildren.
