
Morris Sorin of Orlando, FL, son of Rev. Joseph and Sarah Sorin. Survived by beloved wife Karen, pre-deceased by sister Minnie Novel. Survived by brother Samuel (Philadelphia), children Jodi Molner (Ernie) (Cleveland), Heidi Sorin (John Albrecht) (Columbus), Tamar Sorin (Marc Alter) (Columbus), Pamela Sorin (Phoenix), Marc Halbfinger (Robin Sand) (Raanana, Israel), and grandchildren Cory Molner, Kyle and Sean Barger, Jordan and Devon Alter-Sorin, Danielle, Roey, and Tamar Halbfinger. Morrie’s life centered on the belief that all children are good and that they have a voice. He taught his students to look at the world with love and generosity and enabled them to have the power to make the changes that they wanted to see. He did this in many settings: Religious School Director at Brith Emeth Congregation; Principal of Taylor Road Elementary School; Curriculum Director Cleveland Hts.-University Hts.; Superintendent of Schools, Warrensville Hts., Ohio; Founding Director of Agnon Day School in Cleveland; Founding Director of The Leo Baeck Day School in Toronto, Canada; Director at The Hebrew Day School and founder and Director of New School Preparatory, both in Orlando. Morrie lived with kindness toward others, integrity, generosity and selflessness. A teachers’ teacher, a brilliant educator, but most important, a true mensch. Graveside Services at Mount Olive Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. in Cleveland. Shiva will be in Florida and in Cleveland. Cleveland Shiva will be at the Molner residence: 3038 Kensington Rd. Cleveland Heights Friday immediately after services and Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9.
