I was shocked to hear of my aunt Joanie's passing. As first cousins, our get-togethers left many wonderful memories of her graciousness, hospitality and humor. She was really special.

I offer the deepest sympathies to my cousins, Joan's extended loving family and dear friends. May good memories live long in those she touched and loved. Her smile will always be with me.

Joan was a beautiful women, I took care of her and built a very close bond with her over time. Every morning when I would come in for my shift and I’ll go to her room and give her a hug and kiss and tell her I missed and loved her. I remember us sitting in her room while she showed me how she knitted tissue boxes. We would even sit in the dining area and she’ll teach me sign language so I could communicate better with her. Surprisingly I was able too and it made her and myself so happy. She reminded me so much of my grandmother before she passed, Reasons why I built such a close relationship with her. Her laughter brought joy to me, How sweet and caring she was to me and everyone. I’m really going to miss her dearly but I know that she’s in heaven watching over her family and all the people she loved and cared for. So I’ll continue to celebrate her life the best way I know how. It might be hard but i know she wouldn’t want me or anyone to be sad, I’m so sorry for your loss. I miss her so much too just please remember the good things about her and cherish it. Sincerely Elisha (Her Morning shift Aid)
