Jean Ellen Nopper

February 28, 1925August 3, 2019

Our dear mother, Jean Ellen Nopper, 94, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2019 at her home in Clinton, CT. Born to John Keleciny and Mary Zvara on February 28, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio, Jean was a long-time resident of Clinton. She was very active in St. Mary’s Church of the Visitation, aiding in many projects there such as the Ways and Means committee and fund-raising events. She also collaborated with the upkeep of the church, the Sunday collections and the soup kitchen.

Jean had many talents and interests including being politically active. She was an excellent seamstress, a passionate crafter and china painter. She was an avid cook and baker reflecting her Slovak roots and family traditions. She was a great hostess and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She always made people feel welcome in her home. She was a kind and loyal friend to all those she made over the years.

Jean was a very loving and fun-loving grandmother and great-grandmother to her 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. They enjoyed going to her house and playing board games and doing puzzles with her and she cherished the time spent with them.

Above all, Jean was devoted to her late husband, Richard W. Nopper, and children and spent much of her life caring for them.

Jean is predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband, her son, Richard W. Nopper, Jr. and her grandson, Stefan Lasak. She is also predeceased by three loving sisters.

She will be greatly missed by her three daughters, Linda Shriner (Rick) of Stanwood, MI, Becky Isla (Gino) of Brookline, MA, Mary Nopper (Jim) of Haddam Neck, CT, and by her daughter-in-law, Ellen Nopper of Wilmington, DE. She is survived by her brother, John Keleciny, cousin Emma Kmet and many loving nieces and nephews.

A mass will be held for Jean at St. Mary’s Church of the Visitation at a later date.
