Dear Mrs. Knipper and family,

Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to you in your loss of your husband, your children's father and your grandchildren's grandfather. He did a great deal for the community along with you. Dr. Falcone and I enjoyed being included in events through the years including a huge party at a Fresno restaurant. Remember when we shared slides on Sicily, ate your goodies and your gift of beautiful fruit especially grapefruit through the years? I'll always remember seeing the American flag carefully folded into a triangle and gently placed in a display case along with other military memorabilia in your home. We appreciate how he helped our country--especially school children in Fresno.

My condolences to Richard's family.
I was a teacher at Roosevelt when Richard returned from the service, and I remember the welcome he received from all the teachers who were praying for his safe return. I thought how good he must feel at the welcome he received. I did not stay at Roosevelt long so did not know him well, but I am happy to have been a part of his reunion with the teachers who had missed him so much.

I know Richard was a dear friend to my mother and father. My father shared many memories about Dick from many years of friendship through Fresno High and many times out on the golf course. I'm sending heartfelt memories along on behalf of my dad. (He lives at Sunrise with his wife) I'm sure my dad would want all of you to know how much your father enriched his years and provided much laughter through the years. A great friend, love, James Condon (Joan Condon Coleman)

Dick was such a nice guy and a great help to me as a new teacher at Fresno High in 1973. Ever the helpful man to everyone. And quite the artist. Prayers to the family and all who knew this gentle man. Treasure any artwork he completed.
