Carolyn Jean Rabourn entered into her eternal life in heaven on Friday January 21, 2022. Carolyn was born in Freeport, Texas on August 3, 1944 to Alice Jean and Gilbert Rhoton. She attended school in Freeport, Texas and graduated from Brazosport High school in 1962. In 1966 she met the love of her life, Tommy Rabourn. They were married on July 9, 1967 in Freeport at the Freeport Church of the Nazarene. In 1974 they were blessed with a son, Coby who meant the world to them. They were married for 50 years.
After graduation, Carolyn worked at Great Western Finance and then for the DOW Chemical Company, where she retired as a Shipping Coordinator.
Her love for people took her to Elmcroft Assisted Living in Lake Jackson where she worked the past several years as a receptionist.
Carolyn was a very caring, talented person who did volunteer work for The Community and was involved in many clubs and activities. She enjoyed cross stitching, quilting, card making, arts and crafts, and playing the piano. She collected dolls and was a member of The Brazoria County Doll Club Federation, The Brazoria Archives Association and sewed with the BeeAttitudes Crazy Quilting Sewing Circle. She was a Houston Astros fan and went to many Astro games at The Astrodome and Minute Maid Park. She always watched them on T.V., and when they won The World Series she took a group of Residents from Elmcroft to the Championship Parade in Houston. She was a huge Elvis Presley fan, visiting his place of birth several times, attending his concert and even dedicating a room in her house to everything she could find about him. She loved traveling with her family, especially to Coby’s Pool Tournaments in Las Vegas and other places.
She was a devout Christian and a member of The Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene of Lake Jackson where she did volunteer work and was involved in many activities including playing the piano for services.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents Alice Jean and Gilbert Rhoton and her husband Tommy Rabourn. She is survived by her loving son Coby Duane Rabourn, her brother Gilbert Rhoton Jr., Sister in Law and Brother in Law Trudy and Maurice Kennedy, sister in law and brother in law, Phillis and Rickie Rabourn and many nieces and Nephews.
Vistation will be held Wednesday, January 26th 2022 from 6-8 p.m. at Restwood Funeral Home in Clute
A celebration of life will be held at Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene of Lake Jackson, Thursday January 27, 2022 at 11:00 am with burial to follow at Brazoria Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the Doctors and nurses at St. Lukes in Lake Jackson and the Doctors and staff of The Methodist Hospital in Houston for the loving care they gave her.
