Ewing Floyd Neal, of Lake Jackson, was born February 22, 1933 in Rogers, Texas to Stephen Ewing Neal and Annie Mae Patterson. He died Sunday July 28, 2024 at Woodlake Nursing Home in Clute at the age of 91 years and 5 months.
Ewing married Viola Mae Heupers on January 25, 1958. At the time of Viola’s passing in 2010, they were married 52 years.
He attended high school in Holland, Texas and was part of Class of 1951. After high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He went on to work for the Dow Chemical Company for 34 years.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, his wife, Viola; and his son and daughter in law, Randy and Vanessa Neal who died together in 1983. He is also proceeded in death by his brother, Glen Neal of Waco and his great grandson Marcos Granado of Conroe.
He is survived by his brother, Billy Neal of Pleasonton, TX; his daughter Rita Yoakum and her daughters Tammy, Tanya, Tina, and Tabitha of Conroe and Cut and Shoot, TX.
Floyd is also survived by his son, Rory Neal and his wife Tami of Lake Jackson, TX. Rory and Tami’s children include Cortney Neal Gragert (Peyton) of Brazoria, Reggie Houston (Kim) of Clute, Latasha Houston of Clute, and Tyson Roderick (Kalynn) of Lake Jackson. Floyd’s great grandchildren are Jaden, Axel, Robert, Major, Nastajia, Weston, Jaxton, and three week old Oakley Neal Gragert. He has one great-great grandson, Leon, fathered by the late Marcos Granado. Floyd enjoyed his nursing home visits from Nastajia, she made him laugh.
Floyd Attended Chapelwood United Methodist Church. He loved going to church and drove until age 89! He led a healthy life and never had a hospital stay until his late 80’s. Lake Jackson Seafood was his favorite place to eat. He loved eating sweets. After retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and built several shelves and trunks. He also liked doing handyman work for a few people.
A visitation will be held at Restwood Funeral Home (1038 W. Plantation Dr. Clute, TX) at 12:00 P.M on Friday, August 2nd, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 P.M. Following the service, entombment will take place at Restwood Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will include Logan Neal, Darrel Lux, Dennis Petrash, Kurt Evans, Peyton Gragert, and Tyson Roderick. Honorary Pallbearers are Billy Neal and Gary Lux.
