September 16, 2020
Lupe Mendoza, 73, of Freeport, Texas, departed this earthly home to her heavenly home of golden streets on September 16, 2020 at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas.
Lupe had many roles such as a beloved wife (Muῆecita), loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother we called our “Momo”. She may have been a short little woman but she was a fierce lady with a huge heart of gold. There was never a stranger she could not connect to. She loved to step up and help with anyone’s needs as much as she could. She loved to cook, she loved family, and her everyday gatherings no matter how small or huge. It was a gathering full of memories, laughter, and love which always brought her great joy. All would say we miss her banana pudding and her tortillas. She loved to laugh, oh how she was a lil’ jokester. She always loved to make one smile or laugh.
Her jobs entailed working at Brazosport Memorial Hospital and Mendoza’s Restaurant for many years. After retirement, she devoted her time to loving her family, which there was hardly ever an event she would miss – always sitting front row supporting her children and grandchildren. She was a member of St. Henry’s and St. Mary’s Church in Freeport, Texas. She will truly be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bonifacio and Petra Damian; sister, Anita Moreno; brothers, Julio Damian, Jesse Damian, Ignacio Damian Sr., Joaquin Damian, Jacinto (Chinto) Damian, Celestine (Cele) Damian; mother and father-in-law, Francisco and Victoriana Mendoza.
She is survived by her soulmate, the love of her life, husband of 50 years, Rick Mendoza; her daughters, Urika Mendoza and Unika Mendoza; her grandchildren, Lyahnesha and Larryisa Thomas, Lathaniel Thomas (Mariah), Jordan Smith; and her great-grandbaby Emory Thomas; her brothers, Raymond Damian Sr. (Becky) and Bonnie Damian; and along with a host of other family and friends that she loved.
Active Pallbearers will be Lathaniel Thomas, Ronnie Damian, Jesse Damian Jr., Chris Jordan, Rey Hernandez Jr., and Thomas Mendoza Sr.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Raymond Damian Sr., Bonnie Damian, Caleb Hernandez, Phillip Damian, and Cisco Gomez.
