January 6, 1939 – May 24, 2018
Zlata Smircic, age 79, passed away on Thursday May 24th, 2018 at St. Luke’s hospital with her family by her side. Zlata was born January 6th, 1939 on the beautiful island of Premuda, Croatia. In November of 1959, she married Miljenko “Mike” Smircic and in 1961, with their daughter, they immigrated to the United States. Zlata and Mike made a home for themselves in Jones Creek, TX. It was here that their family grew with the birth of three sons. They lived here until the late 80's, when they built a new home on the San Bernard River, the residence where she would spend the rest of her life. Zlata was known for her amazing cooking and love of stories. She loved dancing and talking with friends, and was her happiest surrounded by family. She devoted her life to her husband, children, and grandchildren and spending time with the kids brought her so much joy and happiness. She was loved by all and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 58 years Miljenko "Mike" Smircic; four children and their spouses: Josie and Randy Drake, John and Tracey Smircic, Emil and Linda Smircic, Michael Smircic; eight grandchildren: Emileigh, Lanie, Lindsey, Mackenzie, Blaine, Madelyn, Jacob and Landon; and five great grandchildren: Scarlet, Violet, Mila, Chloe, and Greyson. The family would also like to express their sincerest gratitude to Buster Harvey for his years of friendship and care.
