Ms. Betty Ann Gray was born on December 22, 1952 in Lafayette, Alabama to the late Mr. Grady Bulger and Ms. Josephine Little Sanders. She departed this earthly life on July 6, 2019.

She was the youngest of twelve siblings: Five brothers preceded her in death Theodore Sanders, George Sanders, Leroy Sanders, Willie (Juanita) Sanders and Robert (Ruby) Sanders.

Betty dedicated her life to Christ at an early age. She later became a member of the Church of Christ in 2007. Betty grew up in the 4th Ward Community where she still has a host of family and friends. She graduated from David T. Howard High School. Ms. Betty was joined in holy matrimony to the late Willie James Gray, in 1973. From that union, they were blessed with three wonderful children.

Betty pursued a career as a household caretaker for over 30 plus years. She retired from Macy’s Inc. in 2009. Betty truly enjoyed life. Some of her favorite past times were thrifting with her daughter and gardening, “The Master Gardner”, as she often called herself. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandson, Carter, and volunteering at his school. Betty became known as the school’s “Nana.” Also, she loved having cookouts with her Big Sister, Glenda. However, what she enjoyed most was attending church and traveling with her family.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory: three wonderful children two sons, Charles (Toni) Little, Demetrius Gray and her devoted and loving daughter, Kimberly Gray; three brothers, Jimmy Sanders, Willie (Mary) Sanders, Eddie (Lula) Sanders, three sisters: Glenda Davis, Mary Ann Bulger and Angela Bulger; five grandchildren, Autumn Glover, Ashley Glover, Jalissa Little, Cameron Deion Walker, and Carter James Walker; one great-grandson Elijah Glover; and one special niece, Patricia Ann Sanders, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.

Nani lite up a room with her smile and joy. The love she had for Carter and all our students at the school was heaven sent! She could ALWAYS be counted on to lift your spirts, give a hug, make you laugh, or give advice when you needed her to be your Nani. She was the GREATEST!!! Sending love to Carter and all his family.

Betty was a caretaker in our home for the last 30+ years and during that time was undoubtedly a member of our family. I have not lived at home for a while but was happy to have an opportunity to spend some time and catch up with Betty a few weeks ago before her surgery to reconnect.

Her voice and always effervescent attitude as a regular occurrence in our home will be sorely missed by us all

My Condolences goes out to the family of Ms. Betty Ann Gray. Betty was one of the kindest, sweetest, friendliest, and most giving person that I know. Always with a smile and a how are you doing? ......showing concern for others. Betty loved her children, grandchildren, and greatgrand to the fullest extent. She will be sorely missed!!!! The tears keep coming but weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning. I share grandchildren with Betty ( Cameron & Carter) and I know that they are really going to miss Nana but I thank God that she was in their lives long enough to instill the best in them, for she believed in God and his Goodness and taught them to believe in God also. Kim, Charles, and Dee Dee I know you are deeply grieving but Trust in the Lord all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. I know God is saying "Well done thy good and faithful servant" Rest on the Grandmother of my Grandchildren......Deepest Love
