Muriel "Ione" Sloan

Ione was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill Sloan. Survivors include sons Forrest “Craig” Sloan (Patty) and William “Scott” Sloan; sister Hazel Jones; grandsons Robert “Bert” Sloan (Lisa) and Christian “Kit” Sloan; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Ione was born in Tennyson, Indiana, but lived most of her life in suburban Atlanta.

“Nonie” treasured family above all. Anyone who would listen heard joyous stories about her beloved grandsons. She reveled in reminiscing and discussing ancestry and heritage. Food was “made with love” for her family and served during many cherished family traditions.

Nonie loved to go, and she went! Drives to Tennessee for lunch or through the mountains to enjoy their beauty were favorite pastimes. She admired old homes along the journey, commenting on which ones had “possibilities.” Bird watching was another fascination, and she could identify many species by hearing their song. As an avid reader, she traveled vicariously through castles, mysteries, and manor homes throughout the world.
