Ms. Othick was my favorite South Knoll teacher. I have many fun memories of activities we did in her class and that was 40 years ago! Sorry for her family's loss.

Ms Othick was such a wonderful teacher and woman. Her compassionate care for my son in the 3’rd grade in the 1970’s will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace. And thank you.

Miss Salvaggio was my favorite teacher. Ever. In 1976 she was just starting her career at South Knoll and I was so fortunate to have her as my teacher. The best compliment I can give her is to say I looked forward to going to school because she made learning fun. Plus, we made homemade butter and roasted pumpkin seeds!
You will live forever in my heart, Miss Salvaggio.

Oh, what a loss to the world! Vita was an amazing teacher, mentor, and friend! When I entered South Knoll in third grade as a child, she was starting her first year too ( We knew her then as Miss Salvaggio, as she had not yet tied the knot.). She was not one of my teachers that year, but all the students thought she was so sweet!

When I came back to my old school in 1995 to teach first grade, Vita was still a kind, loving person, ready to help a younger teacher perfect her trade-such a mentor! Every child mattered to her, and she strived to meet their individual needs to lead them on to success.

As the years went by our friendship grew closer and closer (How could one NOT become close friends with her?). She was there for me to help ease loss, celebrate success, and share so much joy! She was an amazing person-strong, gentle, kind, loving, and so very talented.

Vita will be missed here on this earth, but I know Heaven will be celebrating the blessing of having her for eternity! May the Lord bless and comfort all of those who loved her and were touched by her life. She made the world a better place. She made my life a much better place! ✝

Margaret, my heart is broken for your sweet family. I loved your sister. The short time we rode the school bus together, Vita always saved me a seat because I was the last person to be picked up on the route. Without her kindness, I would have had to stand the whole way to school.

When I found out I was pregnant with Daniel, I asked Vita to promise that she would be his teacher at South Knoll. And I know she was exactly the teacher he needed that year because she was so calm and loving with him. At the time, he was trying to understand and cope with Michael's cancer diagnosis...

I offer up prayers of comfort for you and your family.

Mrs. Othick was always so kind, friendly and happy! She was a wonderful woman who loved her family and teaching! Her name means "life" in Italian and that is exactly what she did; she lived her life to the fullest. She a bright light in everyone's life. I am grateful to have known her for those 4-5 years when I was part of the family. May she rest in peace and know that she was loved by many! <3
