February 4, 1926March 6, 2018

Winnie Mitford of Grapevine, Texas went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, March 6, 2018. Winnie will be remembered for being a friend to everyone she met. She loved to meet new people and sit and visit. Her grandchildren will always remember the delicious shortbread cookies she would make and bring for them at Christmas. Winnie lived a blessed life and lived in many different countries. She grew up in British Guyana, South America and was married to Eugene Mitford. They then moved to London, England for Gene to further his education. They had two sons, Paul and Mark while living in England for 13 years. They moved to Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada for a job opportunity for Eugene and lived there for 12 years. After deciding that Canada was too cold for people who grew up near the equator, they moved to south Texas and lived in Mission for over 30 years. Winnie was an active member of St. Peter & St. Paul Episcopal Church in Mission, Texas. She was a wonderful seamstress, had a green thumb for growing citrus trees, large poinsettias, bougainvillea and many other beautiful plants. She always made a wonderful curry for her family when they came to visit. They spent the last few years of their life in Grapevine, Texas near their son Mark. Winnie was predeceased by her husband Eugene of 59 years by 4 months. She will be missed by many. We know that you are with God in heaven and are thankful for your life with us and those she touched.
