Jack E. Atchley, of Euless, Texas, passed away March 22, 2018, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on April 21, 1939, in Austin, Texas, to Jack and Doris Atchley. He graduated from North Dallas High School and attended The University of Texas at Austin for two years before graduating from The University of Texas at Arlington. Jack served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, stationed in Panama, from 1961 to 1965. Throughout his life, Jack enjoyed traveling, raising his chickens, gardening, and especially liked cooking meals for family and friends. He coached in the Little Dribbler/Mid Cities Basketball Associations for several years winning three championships and coached several All-Star Teams. There are countless young boys lives that he touched throughout those years. There was never a moment that his sarcastic humor couldn’t lighten the situation or a stack of chips he couldn’t take from a competing poker player. He was also an exceptional 42 and bridge player. However, Jack’s favorite pastime was attending any special event his family was involved in. He was married to the love of his life, Sallie, for over 57 years and will be loved and missed by many.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Sallie Atchley; son, Tom Atchley; son Mike Atchley and wife, Donna; daughter, Marti Atchley Wallace and husband, Rodney; Jake Atchley and wife Tracie; Sisters, Virginia Vigil and husband, David; Miriam Atchley and husband, Patrick Bolland; Lean Estes and husband, Hugh; brother, Ted Atchley and wife, Claudia; grandkids, Jennifer, Alex, Chris, Brooke, Cori, Aaron, Annabelle, and Garrett; Great Grandchildren, Micah and Jayden; numerous nieces and nephews.
Jack loved animals so much, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that monetary donations or time can be made in his name to any local animal shelter.
