Mike was born to George Mirdo, Jr. and Estelle Parsons Mirdo in Charleston, WV on June 16, 1944. Mike spent his formative years in Fontana, CA. At the age of 18, Mike enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in the Dental Corp in France as well as a battlefield medic in Vietnam. After his military service, he attended Marshall University where he earned a degree in zoology and his pilot’s license. He flew for United Airlines for 2 years as 1st Officer. Mike joined GD Searle Pharmaceuticals rising to District Manager where he worked for 25 years. He spent the last 10 years before his retirement with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in Memphis, TN as Training Director.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Mary Jane Mirdo, sons Greg (Linda), John (Barbie) and Stephen Mirdo, stepsons, Steve (Chevas), Chad (Fara), Andy (Melinda) Sudlow; grandchildren Kaitlyn, Christopher, Matthew, Lyda Mirdo and Kiersten, Ethan, Landon Sudlow. He also leaves one brother, John Joseph Mirdo of California.
Mike was an Episcopalian and long time member of the Masonic Lodge in California and Tennessee. He was a past Master of Lodge #152 F&AM in Collierville, TN.
A celebration of Mike’s life is planned and date will be announced at a later time. Burial will be at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.
