She was surrounded by family as she left this world and joined her husband Howard (Bud) Vennell in heaven. Born in Camden, NJ in 1923 Ann was the daughter of John and Mary Carr. She had four sisters and two brothers. She married Bud Vennell on March 6, 1943 and spent her days caring for their 5 children. She later served as the Librarian at the Woodlynne Public Library for many years which brought her great joy and purpose. They were very active members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Woodlynne where she spent countless hours helping with Altar and Rosary, selling 50/50 tickets and serving in any other way that was needed. She had a green thumb and truly loved plants and gardening. She always had a number of thriving African violets in her home as well as a yard full of lovely perennials. She could often be found weeding her garden and more times than not would start weeding yours too if she visited and happened to spot any weeds. She spent countless hours in her rocking chair on her front porch watching the birds and the comings and goings of the neighborhood. Ann was always up for a trip to Atlantic City and was an eternal optimist when it came to penny slots and scratch off lottery tickets. While she never had much interest in traveling the world, she loved to go out and about. She enjoyed frequent trips to the store and could push the cart around for hours just seeing what they had. Ann loved to go out to eat and was a favorite dining companion to many. She was a faithful, dependable and hardworking presence at any family gathering. She seemed most content and at peace sitting at the kitchen table pitching in on the efforts of the gathering surrounded by the hustle and bustle of her large family. She would often arrive with homemade rice pudding or a fresh batch of rice krispie treats and once she was in the door wanted to know what she could do to help. Her family will miss her tremendously but her legacy of faithfulness, hard work, loyalty and perseverance will live on eternally through them.
