Julian G. Leija, 56, loving known as "Popo," passed away suddenly on March 26, 2021, in San Angelo, Texas. Julian was born July 4, 1964, in Loraine, Texas, to Nicolas Leija II and Guadalupe Garcia. He married Rebecca Quiroz on October 13, 1984, with whom he had two children, Sandra Marie and Julian Alexander. The two divorced after 24 years of marriage but continued to remain close friends and strived to keep their family together when it came to holidays and family events. Julian grew up a Loraine Bulldog and was close to his sibling and cousins. Julian was a natural athlete with a competitive heart. He never let anyone just win; they had to earn it. However, he eased up a little when it came to his granddaughters, who were his pride and joy. Julian loved watching his grandchildren play sports and never missed a game. Julian made every effort to make as many of his children's, grandchildren's, and family members' events. He loved to be by the water fishing or gambling at the casino or gameroom. Julian loved the Dallas Cowboys, something he passed on to his children and grandchildren. You could always find Julian cracking a joke or poking fun at someone as he loved to make people laugh and smile. Julian was a kind, friendly person who was always willing to lend a listening ear and help anyone in any way. Julian retired from the TDCJ after 20 years, only to return a couple of years later. He continued working for the TDCJ until his untimely death. Julian will always be remembered as a beloved Son, Brother, Brother-in-law, Father-in-law, Friend, Coworker, and the best Dad and Popo. Julian is survived by his Mother, Guadalupe Leija of Loraine, Texas. Two sons Julian Alexander Leija and Wife Erica of Snyder, Texas, Joseph Gonzales of Kermit, Texas. One Daughter Sandra Dominguez and Husband, Ricky of San Angelo, Texas. Ex-Wife and Close friend Rebecca Quiroz White of Colorado City, Texas. Four Brothers Nicolas Leija III of Las Vegas, NV, Martin Leija and Joe Luis Leija of Loraine, Texas and Luis Leija of Sweetwater, Texas. Three sisters Mary Ann Leija, Maria Pantoja, and Mary Jane Leija, all of Loraine, Texas. Grandchildren Sophia and Jimena Leija, Rhyanna and Natalee Adame, Larisa Armendarez, Nathaniel Lawerence, Joseph, Zachary, Avery, and Audrey Gonzales. Also, by many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, and beloved friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Nicolas Leija II. My big brother, oh how I miss you. I hope you know that I truly loved you. You my brother will always be in my ❤️ heart. I will miss the way you would laugh at us then whisper that you were kidding then say well actually I wasn't. The laugh, the silly looks the remarks only Julian can get away with. Watch over us Julian and I know you and Dad are together . One day in the kingdom of heaven we will rejoice along with you till then guardian angel of ours.

He loved coming to Las Vegas to gamble and to have dinner with us. He spoke proudly about his children and grandchildren. He always made a joke about someone or something. Making us all laugh.
