Robert was born on a farm near Moberly, Randolph County, Missouri, on March 30, 1919. He graduated from Cornell University in 1940 where he received a B.S. degree in Agricultural Education. He was a member of Acacia Fraternity.
After working as a sales agent for New York Life Insurance Co. for one year, he was called to active duty in the US Army Quartermaster Corps. for over four years, including two years in the European Theater of Operations. Robert was discharged a Major in 1945.
In 1943 he married Eunice, (Kit) Skirke in Cleveland, Ohio. Upon discharge from the Army in 1945, he continued his career as an agent for NY Life in Columbus, Ohio. Robert was one of NY Life’s leading sales agents for 30 years during which time he earned many honors – a life member of the MDRT (Million Dollar Round Table), a member of the Chartered Life Underwriters Assoc. (CLU) and past president of the Columbus Ohio Life Underwriting Assoc.
The Bradleys moved out west to Littleton, Colorado in 1960. Upon semi-retirement from NY Life in Denver, Robert began a second career in Real Estate. He worked for Wood Brothers Realty for two years until 1972. They moved to Woodmoor in Monument, Colorado and worked for VanSchaack and Co. until 1974. Robert organized Bradley & Co. Realty, specializing in the sale of Woodmoor properties until 1989. After the sale of Bradley & Co. he became a broker for Woodmoor Realty.
Robert was a member of The Church at Woodmoor, Monument Hill Sertoma, Woodmoor Country Club and Woodmoor Improvement Association.
Robert’s family surrounded him with their love for many years. He is survived by his three children; son Dr. Robert C. Bradley III and Marilyn of Windsor, CO, son Randy and Kris Bradley of Colorado Springs, and daughter Barbara and Wyman Varnedoe of Monument, CO, six wonderful grandchildren, Megan, Katie, Allison, Scott, Bradley and Erin, all married with loving families, and 16 great grandchildren which includes 3 great grandchildren adopted from Ethiopia.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Kit, his parents, Dudley “Lass” and Hattie (Randolph) Bradley, his sister’s Mary Martha and Doris, and brother, William.
A Visitation will be held December 27, 6-8pm, at Swan-Law Funeral Directors and a Memorial service on December 28, 10:00 am at The Church at Woodmoor in Monument, CO. Following the service will be a Graveside service at 11:00am at St. Matthias Cemetery, 18320 Furrow Road, Monument. A reception will follow at The Monument Hill Country Club.
