when I was young I always knew Pura Murphy as "tata" I was very little at the time, but I always remember tata as a wonderful lady who would babysit us and give us sweets if we were good. It made me very sad to hear she had passed, but if the love and care she gave my brother and I as kids is anything to go by, I know that she was a wonderful woman who lived a full life, and left many hearts changed. My heart goes out to her family. Losing someone can be very hard, and doubly so for losing such a wonderful woman. I know she's smiling down on us, and hoping the best for each and every life she touched in her long and full life.

Titi Purita and her family was one of our favorite places to go visit! I remember feeling so important and special! I was nicknamed sweetie pie by my Uncle Tom. That name stuck! There was always something to do at their house and no matter what it was, we had fun. It was easy to be a kid! I'll always remember how much Titi loved children. How much she loved Uncle Tom and Jessica always stuck out. Uncle Tom and Titi always seemed like two little love birds! When Alfred and I got married Uncle Tom and Titi Purita were our honored guests that we asked to bless us and pray for us at our reception. We had many great times together and I pray that God will fill my beautiful cousin Jessica and her family with the peace that He can only provide, the strength and courage to continue each day full of Love and Laughter in Jesus name, Amen! Love you

Our beloved Purita was a beautiful person. She was loving, caring, giving, generous, honest, kind, inspiring, happy, and special! I was blessed because she was my dear godmother. She welcomed me into her house and always treated me like another daughter. Rest In Peace! We will always remember you and keep you in our hearts! Our family has another angel in heaven!

I knew Pura first and foremost as one of my moms very close friends. The picture of Pura and her beloved husband Tom standing alongside my own mom and dad at their wedding remains one of my favorite images, so young and vibrant and full of life! Pura was also a devoted mother to one of first best friends ever, Jessica. As families we would celebrate holidays together often, which are some of my favorite memories - parents partying and Jessi and I having our own fun! We would even trick-or-treat together, and Jessi’s costumes were amazing! Pura put so much love and detail into everything she did for Jessica, it was something to behold! Her family and her faith were everything to her, and she will be missed greatly!

Aunt Pura was a very loving person. I have many memories from the family gatherings at her home in Columbia, Oriols games at the Stadium and other events. The last event with her was my granddaughters Chior concert The Young Sensation, she attended with Tommy they enjoyed very much. I was blessed to have her in my life!!!

May You Rest in Peace

Purita, Tom, and Jessy, in many ways defined my life. If it weren’t for them, I would have never found about the opportunity to attend the school that I graduated from. Currently I’m still serving proudly as a result of graduating from USNA. Before, during, and even after graduating, I spent many days at Purita’s house. She encouraged me to bring my friends who like me, needed a home away from home and somewhere to decompress and feel like family. We felt it because she made us part of her family and treated us as such. I will never forget Purita and Tom; RIP and thanks for making this world a better place with your kindness, love, and hospitality.
With much love,
-Api and the Nieves family.

Dear Jessica and Leo,
There are no words to truly express the loss of your Mom's passing. She was such a warm and generous soul. Family was everything to her. You have been there supporting her in such a loving way through all the heartache with the loss of your Dad, Tom and her illness. May we all remember her for the light she brought to our lives. She is at peace now and with your Dad smiling down at you with love. Love never dies.

Tata was one of the most beautiful souls I have ever encountered. She cared for my kids Corey and Kiiana for many years. She never acted as a caregiver but treated us like we were a part of her family. She was such a blessing to me as she always took time to talk to me and share her wisdom on life. Jessie and Leo became my sister and nephew and we will continue to be family as I know she would want that. I will get some flan and celebrate life as we use to do. We will love you forever!!

A beautiful soul has left us but the memories that we treasure will stay. Our family will always remember her kindness, her generosity, her golden heart and hospitality making us feel welcome at her home when we visited. I remember as an adolescent spending two summers in her home and felt like I was a daughter to her. She was always sure that we enjoy the time there and visit as many places possible . She was the heart of Christmas when she visited Puerto Rico when I was a child bringing presents, music and happiness. I would like at this time to celebrate the life of Purita and all the good moments that we shared and I believe that from heaven she is smiling and can see how much we love her.
