Phillip Lamer Lewis, 75, of Columbia passed away Wednesday December 12, 2018 at his home. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am – 11:00 am followed by funeral services at 11:00 am on Friday December 28, 2018 at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia.
Phillip was born to William Wiley Lewis and Katherine (Myrick) Lewis in Pensacola, Florida on June 7, 1943. On July 24, 1971, in St. Louis, Phil was united in marriage to Alexandra Dodds Lewis who preceded him in death.
Phil had a great sense of humor and loved telling jokes. He enjoyed all sports and in his younger years was an avid golfer. He was a good storyteller. He enjoyed animals and loved to bird watch. He was a handyman and could fix almost anything. He was employed at Hubbell Power Systems for many years, retiring in 2009. Phil’s greatest love was for his family. He loved his grandchildren. He was an inspiration to family as they witnessed his devoted care for his wife during her last years on earth.
Phil is survived by three sons: William (Paula) Lewis of Houston, TX; Christopher (Terry) Lewis of Denver, CO; Paul (Heather) Lewis of Columbia; a daughter: Elaine Hale of Ashland; one brother: Michael Lewis of St. Louis; thirteen grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. Phil was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Alexandra; and four brothers: Howard, Ken, Larry and John.
