Bobbie Jean Geverd, of the Improve Community in Mississippi, went home to be with The Lord on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at the age of 90. She was born in Marion County, Mississippi to Shelly and Hazell Morris where she has remained a lifelong resident. Ms. Bobbie was a basketball standout in high school and played ball at Hinds County Junior College where she was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family. Ms. Bobbie served her Lord and the Improve Community through her lifelong membership with Improve Baptist Church. She worked tirelessly in many aspects of the church, including teaching Sunday School, helping with the bereavement committee and will forever be known as “The Sweet Tea Lady.” She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Joann Morris; her husband, James D. Geverd; a son, David Geverd; and two grandsons, Kiel McKenzie and Dustin Geverd. Ms. Bobbie is survived by two daughters, Tina Magee and husband, David, and Terri McKenzie and husband, Glen; a brother, Bill Morris; four grandchildren, Taryn Murphey and husband, David, Garrett Magee, Kasey Gill and wife, Kayla, and Kalin McKenzie; and five great-grandchildren, Addi Hollis, Tatum Murphey, Kohen Gill, Kiel Stokes Murphey, and Knox Gill. The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Darel Daniels, will be at 11:00am on Monday, September 21, 2020 at Improve Baptist Church. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 9:00am until service time. Burial will follow in church cemetery assisted by David Magee, Glen McKenzie, David Murphey, Kasey Gill, Kalin McKenzie, and Garrett Magee serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include Kiel Stokes Murphey, Kohen Gill, and Knox Gill.
